WHAT IS MENTAL HEALTH SKILLS BUILDING (MHSS)?

MHSS is a training service for individuals who are severely mentally ill. The goal of this program is train individuals in everyday living skills which allow them to function independently, or to their maximum mental capacity.

Our treatment focuses on enabling individuals with significant mental illness to achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment.

Our goals are to provide community based assistance and training services for adults and young adults who have difficulty managing independently in their environment because of mental health issues.

Enable individuals to training to:
• Achieve and maintain community stability and independence
• How to properly and efficiently use community resources
• Assist individuals with their medication management
• Training clients in appropriate behavior in public, in the home and other environments
• We monitor the health, nutrition, and physical condition of our clients.

What MHSS is NOT!

• A preventative service
• A social welfare benefit
• A crisis intervention service

WHO DO WE SERVE?

The population served is adults from ages 18+ who have mental, behavioral, emotional disturbances, which have resulted in significant impairment and an inability to self-manage in their home or resident environment without supportive interventions.
These barriers present challenges to the client that can possibly lead them to homelessness, repeated psychiatric hospitalizations, and/ or harm to themselves or others. Our goal is to provide services that help the client to realize a decrease in mental/psychological barriers while increasing their social skills

HOW DOES AN INDIVIDUAL GET REFERRED TO THIS PROGRAM

Most referrals are made through the Department of Social Services, Adult Protective Services, Community Services Boards, psychiatric institutions, physicians, court order, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, and self-referrals; however, if you know of someone in need of services please feel free to call our 24/7 toll free number and one of our experienced representatives will promptly return your call.
